How balance reaches your account

Balance is held by the organization and handed out to members. Here is every way it moves, including the credit you start with.

Balance does not belong to whoever happens to be signed in. It belongs to the organization, and it reaches an individual through an organization admin.

You start with credit

A new account is granted free credit at signup, with no card required. It is enough to build an agent and hold real conversations with it before deciding anything.

Note

The signup credit is granted once, when the account is created. It is not a monthly allowance.

Every way balance moves

MovementWhat it is
Signup bonusThe free credit granted when the account is created
Top upBalance added to the organization
DistributeAn organization admin giving part of that balance to a member
ReclaimAn admin taking unused balance back from a member
ConsumptionCalls spending it
RefundBalance returned
AdjustmentA correction
These are the movements the system records against an account.

Why it is distributed rather than shared

A member spends from their own share rather than from the whole pot. That is what stops one person's afternoon of testing from consuming the credit the rest of the team needs for real calls.

Give people what the work in front of them needs. Distributing again takes seconds, so a small share now and more later costs nothing and keeps a mistake small.

Adding to the organization balance

To add balance to the organization, email [email protected] with how much you need and we will load it for you.

Common questions

What happens to a member's balance when they leave?
It stays with them until an admin reclaims it, so reclaiming is worth doing as part of removing someone.
Can a member see the whole organization balance?
Members see their own. The organization pool is an admin view.
Can I be given more than the organization holds?
No. Distributing moves balance that already exists. It does not create it.
