The verification email did not arrive

Registration sends a one time code before the account can be used. What to check, in the order worth checking it.

Registering with an email and password sends a one time code, and the account stays unusable until it is entered. When it does not arrive, the cause is almost always delivery rather than anything wrong with the account.

Check these, in this order

  • Spam or junk. This is the answer most of the time.
  • The address itself. A typo sends the code somewhere real, just not to you.
  • Request the code again rather than registering again.
  • Corporate filtering, if it is a work address.

On a work address

Company mail systems quarantine messages from unfamiliar domains, and the message can be sitting somewhere only an administrator can see. Ask whoever runs your mail to release it and allow the domain, which also saves the next person on your team the same hour.

Careful

Registering a second time does not make delivery faster and leaves you with two half-made accounts. Ask for a new code instead.

When none of that works

Email [email protected] from the address you are trying to verify. Sending from it is what proves you own it, which lets us verify the account without the code.

Common questions

Can I use a different address instead?
Yes, and a personal address is a reasonable way past a corporate filter. It becomes your sign-in identity though, so pick one you will keep.
How long is a code good for?
Codes expire. If yours has been sitting a while, ask for a fresh one rather than trying the old one.
